After realising this, I just had to short out the battery connector in the bass with the connector I bought, and then shove 9V down the cable. The circuit I built for the box looked something like this:
I’m sure that’s fairly self explanatory. There’s a DPDT switch, which switches on/off, with an LED for each state. Yes, there’s an LED to say that it’s off. Madness. I’d imagine if you were following this, you could use any colour you like. I used feeble red for off, and “HOLY CRAP THAT’S BRIGHT” blue for on, which I think works rather well.
After getting my trusty dremel out, and realising just how bad at dremelling I was, I made the necessary holes in the box and put everything together. Much to my surprise, it worked. The scratches around the switch and other bits on the photos are where the dremel slipped. Honest, I’m that bad. Anyway, have some pictures.
It’s off. So there’s a light to tell you so.
And now it’s on, and lighting the room up.
The 1/4” jack sockets on the side. I might label them at some point…
