Well, I just got back from Wales where I spent the new year with a few people I knew. It was rather nice on the north coast, near Colwyn Bay. We went down to the beach at about 9pm on the 31st, tried to light a fire, let off some fireworks, got cold and came inside and turned trivial pursuits into a drinking game. Fun!
Now that the new year is here, I think it's important to start doing some things right. Like paying rent on time, getting a job, and not being so grumpy. :-)
Well, i'm sitting here after just been told I'm onto the next stage for one of my job applications (Wooooohooooooo) and at the same time trying to find a band for a show. Life doesn't get feeling more strange.
I have to complete a numeracy test now, which will be emailed to me, and, knowing my luck, either be filtered as spam, or, knowing my luck further, be infested, with commas. Now I just have to finish everything, and my life will be complete. For today.
More job success, went for an assessment for one of my other applications today, and after 3 hours of doing stuff, I think it went ok. This is a good thing. I'm now tidying up some work I'm doing for people, and generally happy. I don't know why, it just seems to be a good frame of mind to be in :)
Oh, and I just wrote an sql query that reads:
"select distinct shows.title from performances inner join shows on performances.showid=shows.id where shows.displayed=1 order by performances.date, performances.time;"
Remember that sql query in my last post? It works, but only after v4 of mysql. So if you're migrating a website over to a different server out of your control, only to find that it doesn't work, you then spend a few hours figuring out that mysql v3.23 works differently. Oh well.
I thought I'd write this entry as I'm currently installing gentoo for want of anything better to do. So I'm typing this in links2, the well loved text browser. People should use text browsers more. Pictures are overrated. Really.
Pah, only a few more hundred hours and then it's done, and the sound won't work.
