Nothing to see here
Well, I thought I should say something... It's raining, and I've done nothing. There, said it. :)

Well, not many news entries recently. This is actually because I've been working (no!!). That and other things which have all conspired to drive me insane which include but do not entirely consist of: the world.
I redid the bannery thingie. Hope everyone likes it.
Oh, and if you want the secret of being able to work - install linux. You'll firstly get no work done as you try and get everything working, but then you admit defeat. When you realise that you like it so much that you don't want to uninstall it, and that nothing (like sound) works so you can't distract yourself with music, films, etc. you actually decide to get work done. Genius :)
I got bored of linux. It wouldn't play sound at me. Dammit.
For those of you who may or may not care, I've gone home to partly recover my sanity. That's why I'm not in or answering my phone.
I've just noticed that I'm bailing news entries by the dozen. Something's seriously up with notnet which means that every time that I add a news entry, it loses some entries. This is rather annoying and it's probably telling me that I should be paying for mysql which wouldn't do this sort of thing. Ah well.
Well, for those of you who may or may not know me, I'm back in cam tomorrow (today). In the continuing saga that is turning out to be "my week off", I will have spent around £30 getting to and from Cambridge to learn that no matter wherever I am, I still feel shit. Still, it's more peaceful here. The downside is washing-up. The flip-side to that obviously is eating whatever I decide I want to. Or whatever's in the fridge, but those two lists usually coincide and that's definately a good thing.
I haven't yet decided what time I'd like to be there. A whole small fraction of me wants to be up there in time for brunch, but I can see this distinctly not happening. The other option is to get there much later, and lounge around here for a bit. Might even go to the park, provided the weather gets off its arse and does something approximating average for the time of year.
Must find a black studded dress shirt. Hmmm....
It's only a slightly warm fuzzy feeling to return to 7 missed calls, 5 text messages, an answerphone message, and 24 emails. Rah!
It's great!!!!
As is cake as it happens. Especially chocolate cake. And coffee with whiskey. Mmmmmm......
Well, I had an idea for a box, and I went away and built it. Shock horror, it works!!!!!!!!!! It's also quite small, and made of aluminium :)
More later (maybe even today!) :)
Well, the blob box is well and truely finished. I'll diffinately do a how-to tonight. With pictures. Promise. :)
Well, having nothing else to do for the past 10 minutes, I did a guide (as promised) for the blob box. You can all go read it in the misc section. Or if that challenges you, you can click on this amazing link:
Beer festivals are nearly as good as beer. To prevent myself overworking, I went to the Cambridge Beer festival, which is fab and on until saturday.
Chocolate Beer. Now there's a good idea :)
With a few changes. I broke the stylesheets last night, for some strange reason which I can't remember. Anyway, I thought I had a backup, didn't, so rewrote it from an earlier version. With funky corners.
And yes, I know the guestbook page doesn't work, and some of the styles aren't finished yet, but I'm getting there, and it's lunchtime now. :)
Hurrah!!!!!!!!I did a cunning thing which meant the box doesn't care how long it is. Cunning indeedy :)
Now I need to go and do some chemistry. Exams in half a week....
I was sent this by an anonymous source called Jon. I don't know why I find it amusing - It possibly is in the sense that you're laughing at the amount of time someone gave up to do it.
Anyway, I'm off to hit incompetant printers.
The expectation value of an operator on a wavefunction is the same as the integral over all space of the probability density of the wavefunction, namely the square of the wavefunction.
The first order approximate perturbed energy of a perturbed system is equal to the integral of the square of the wavefunction multiplied by the perturbed Hamiltonian.
Wavefunctions should be normalized before figuring out Huckel energies.
A vibrational mode with a change in dipole moment is IR active, whereas if there is a change in the polarizability it is Ramen active.
A P-branch occurs in rotational-vibrational spectra when the J level drops by 1 on a vibrational transition. A Q-branch occurs if it doesn't change, and R branch exists if it goes up by 1.
Sometimes you don't get a Q branch. I'm not convinced I remember why.
The 3P state is about 15B above the ground state, who's name I can't remember. Maybe it's Bob.
Mercury 2+ is good for stuff.
