Taking strange advantage of my camera

I thought I would tell the world what I have on my table. Here's a picture.

For those that don't know, or care, they're two kilowatt par 64 floorcans. I contemplated plugging them in just to overload the building, but then decided that round pin plugs don't go in square pin sockets, and gave up on the idea.

9am lectures again.

Well, the wonder of the chemistry course has done it's magic flippy thing again, and now I have 9am lectures. The upside is I only have 3 of them a week for the next 3 weeks. Still, that's more time to be spent making stuff in the lab. A photo of my feet arrived this morning.

I do chemistry, right?

My kitchen flooded today. It woke me up, but I thought it was just a dripping tap, so I ignored it. Then I had to wade through my kitchen to get to the sink. Thankfully, it's dry now. I should have put more effort into this news post. Oh, and thank you to Richard for sending me this.

That time of the week again

Once again, I find myself in the chemistry dept. library. This time, I have an hours wait whilst I make a lithium enolate at about -70 deg. C. Fun!!

Managed to do a concert on Saturday night, as I was playing the piccolo in Tchaikovsky's 5th symphony. I think it's important to point out that whilst it's a great piece to listen to, it's quite obvious that Mr. Tchaikovsky didn't have a clue about wind instruments, especially the piccolo. It's a crap part, and I've distinctly decided I don't like the piece any more. If it had snowed that night, my opinion of it might be higher (don't ask), but it didn't. And I've just been informed that I have a new bed. This day is getting better and better already.

We apologise for the inconvenience

Well, I did it, the big site re-design. That sounds like I had it planned for months, whereas actually I saw someone else use CSS for a layout purpose thingie and decided that I needed to try it. Much head banging later, and it isn't finished, but it's close.

If you're using Firefox, I hate you. If you're using Opera, I hate your browser. If you're using IE, I hate not only you, your existance, your browser, but I won't make any effort to make it look good for you.

A rather surreal evening

Well, that was weird. I had a nice long evening of work planned for tonight, and it all went pear-shaped.

I was told about a party occurring at 7:30 at a friends. This is not unusual. I turned up at about 8, and found lots of people cooking random potato/onion things, which subsequently turned out to be lovely. Then people decided to mix apples and bananas with them, and that was slightly weird. Then a box of dry ice was "discovered" in the corner, and thus ensued a rather random episode involving hot water, a vase, and dry ice. I think the word "atmosphere" arose at some point. Anyway, after that there was a strange pseudo-threesome in the corner, followed by another two people turning up and promptly massaging each other, before disappearing again.

This made things lurch from bad to worse.

A board-game called "The Evil Devil-Bunny" or some variation on that (I really can't remember) was produced, and played by various people, whilst other various people googled around for "What to do with Dry Ice". It gets worse when someone mentioned that if you fill a sink with washing-up liquid and hot water, and then tip dry ice into it, it explodes. We tried. It went a bit mad.

It was at this point I think my physique was complemented.

Then (it goes on) someone (might have been me) decided that a small container with a tight fitting lid would make quite a good projectile if filled with dry ice and water - this turned out to be true.

After resultant injuries has been compensated for with more alcohol and vegan ice cream, it was then decided that a random 1 day trip to somewhere not in England would be a really good idea. After a frantic array of internet searching for cheap flights, and then disappointment coinciding with the dawning of information that it's valentine's day this weekend, the party broke up.

I was too scared to collect my rum by the 2 probably-not-wearing-any-clothes that were sharing a room with my bottle of rum.

Mmmmmm sleeeeeep.

Well, today was an interesting day. As was yesterday. As, I fear, tomorrow will be. I was up at 8 yesterday, 7:30 today, 8 tomorrow, and possibly 8 on tuesday. This is just unreasonable given I'm a student, but it's the price I pay for working on a huge production. Get-in was today, which only took 15 hours or so. Tomorrow is another 15 hours of the tech, followed by the dress and opening night the following day. Yay!

Another slightly full day

Just had the opening night of Little Shop of Horrors. Therefore I decided to put up the pictures I took yesterday, in the tech. It went rather well, except for one bit which involved a virutal techie huddle, followed by that particular problem solving itself.

At least I don't have to be up tomorrow.

Oh dear, not again

It's snowing. Again. The first time round was really cool, the second time was again, rather nice, but now it's just dull and cold. Pretty though :)I

t's now blizzarding outside my window, and I have to walk to the lab in 10 minutes. Great. IT'S NEARLY MARCH DAMMIT, WE WANT SUNSHINE.

The flipside is that I spend from between 4pm until about 11:30 pm indoors this evening (in a theatre) as we have the joy of two shows today, and two shows tomorrow. And I've got a get-in the day after that. And lots of work to do. Yay!

As I've been writing this, it's stopped snowing. There may be a god after all.
