April 1st? Again?

Well, I got out of bed after midday, and then couldn't be bothered to do anything, so the sum total of my effort towards the global phenomenon that is April Fool's day is this:

Flah.

I feel much better already now. The only thing to do now, is go shopping for things I don't need.

It's all not working dammit.

As I sit here listening to Paul Simon's Graceland (fab album btw) and contemplate what lifestyle dinner used to live whilst shouting repeatedly at a Cabletron MicroMMac-24E in order to get it to talk to me, I pause to notice how awful this carpet is, and how there's a kitchen behind me, in bits.

It was sunny today, and that's always good. It means I can go to that place called "outside" and see what's happening there. I'm hoping it's sunny tomorrow so I can possibly go to Hastings, and then on Sunday, when I'm off to Windsor to sing in the Castle because that would mean that it's not raining which, again, is a good thing.

Also, apparently, whilst trying to arrange a holiday, or tour, for 26 people in September, my destination has moved from Seville, to Barcelona, then back to Seville, then up to Barcelona again with a brief flickering in Belgium, then France, and now it's back to Barcelona and it's looking at Malta in a scary way. Dammit.

Mmmmmm. Chicken. Scary.

Making things work.

I'm back in cambridge tomorrow, which means I don't have to sit and wait forever for pages to load. mmmmmmmmmmm 10Mbit :)

Got ICQ working for my phone which means I can now sit in fields and say 'hi' to people for free. But that's kinda the point of a phone in the first place so I'm not sure if I've got one up on moral society there or not. Ah well.

I had my third steak of the week today after deciding to hack round the countryside on my bike, but it's comforting to know that my diet will most likely get worse at cambridge (it always does). That said, it is now certain that I will be going to Barcelona for my holiday in September. Did I say holiday? I meant extremely stressful and hardworking choir tour :p

Me 'edd hurts.

Back at Cambridge, and took a whole day and a half doing something that should have taken about an hour. Still, I got pheasant for lunch yesterday so it's not all bad.

Must... do.... more..... work.....

Oh, and CPE00c0f04a71a6-CM00803785524e.cpe.net.cable.rogers.com was the 18,000th visitor. :)

A very profitable evening

Out of this evening, (which happens to be Easter day in case no-one noticed) I managed to blag and keep a silver plated coffee spoon, fork and a rather nice napkin.

College has no idea :)

We love Singlepoint (with apologies)

This is what it says on the back of every phone statement I get from Singlepoint:Calls not eligable for Free Talktime:

  • International calls - both from the UK and abroad
  • Calls made at peak times if you are on an Off Peak Tariff
  • Calls made once your Free Talktime allowance has been fully used
  • Premium rate calls
  • Freephone numbers

As you can see, there is absolutely no mention of 0845 numbers. So when they decided to bill me for every 0845 dial-up internet call I made in the holidays (yes, they're mostly off-peak), I was rather annoyed. That's a little understated. Yes I know that it says in the contract somewhere in size 2 font that 0845 numbers are not included, but the fact that they fail (woo, bold and itallic) to mention this rather useful fact in the place where they decide to mention all the other things they will bill you for is either stupid, or bloody clever marketing. Anyway, a very polite, to-the-point letter will wing it's way to their customer relations dept. on the advice of the person on the end of the phone (who it took about 30 mins to get through to). She said I was right to be annoyed, and that I might get my money back if I write to them.

Knowing this lot, I'm not optimistic.

Some would argue life is good.

I decided on the balance of things that instead of doing work last night I should go to formal and drink lots. I just got up :)

I do need to work now. But only after bacon.

And on the 8th day.......

I got bored, so put a bit more in the Cake Survey. I need sleep, but I know I won't get any, so that's why we call it "work".

It's true, you can get blood from a stone.

I just had a phone call from a person over at Singlepoint about my little problem and shockingly, they've agreed to give me money back. I think it might have had something to do with me being politly finger-pointy and also sending the letter via registered post and on nice thick paper with a college letterhead. I think I might put "Getting money out of a phone company" down in my list of things to be done before I'm 35, just after "Get a job" and before "Win the lottery".And something blue arrived in the post. Pretty :)
